THE ONLY THING WE HAVE TO FEAR…

Nicole Porter Life 41 Comments

A couple weeks ago (actually during the TruTour weekend), I came across this quote: “Your growth scares people who don’t want to change”. And ever since I read it, it has constantly been in the back of my mind. I feel like it has been weighing on me heavily recently and I have finally decided to share it because I’m sure this will hit close to home with a lot of you.

Trunited is different. It completely breaks the rules for how things are normally done. It sounds too good to be true. And for a lot of you trying to spread the word about this incredible opportunity, you may be faced with a lot of adversity instead of support, even from those closest to you. People may try to discourage you from being a part of it and you may even hear things like “that will never work”. These are such hard things to hear and deal with when you believe in something and have the excitement that we all seem to share when you really understand what this opportunity is. Just know that we completely understand and we know the difficulties you all face.

You see, what a lot of people may not know or realize is that Nic and I face so much of this in our own lives. People who don’t want to see us succeed or see us be happy, people who want to try to hold us back, people that attempt to create road blocks at every turn…and what I have realized is that fear is the #1 motivator behind all of this. With every setback and with every person that tries to stand in our way, this quote has become such a good reminder that sometimes people are just scared. They are scared of your growth and success and your potentially “different life”. They feel threatened by your dreams. They aren’t ready to embrace change and they certainly aren’t ready to let you embrace it either.

But how sad that we can’t all encourage each other, lift each other up, celebrate success and growth and be happy for those around us.  Why does it matter if the person next to us has a better job, bigger house or happier marriage? If that’s what you crave, then use that picture to set bigger goals to attain; but can’t you still be happy for the person that has those things while you do that? Can’t we all love and hope and dream together?

With all the scary events happening in our country recently, this hope and urge has become even stronger. To love and support each other. And maybe that’s what people need, to be loved a little extra through their fears. We are changing the world and we are changing lives. And for all the people on that journey with us, surround yourselves with the people that support and encourage you and love on those that try to stand in your way, but move around them also.

Don’t let others’ fears destroy your hopes and dreams. Only you can make them come true!

Xoxo, Nicole

  1. Nicole, I run into these roadblocks every day with family and friends. It shakes my confidence and makes me angry in the process. It steals my joy as well as my energy and takes a great deal to overcome. I have a wonderful friend, business partner in Mike Charbo . . . I think sometimes he considers me a charity case, but he is always there to encourage me and I truly love him for it. Mikey is one of a kind and I am thankful for his friendship and support. Several of the folks in Trunited I have known for many years through other businesses . . . Scotty Merker and Mike Popovich are the top of the list. Thank you and Dr. Nico for a once in a lifetime opportunity. I am so very thankful for both of you. God bless you always.

  5. I love your honestly…and love that you are doing this blog. You write so beautifully and literally take the words right out of my mouth and mind. It would be so much easier if we could all think this way, trust and help each other.
    Here’s to continuing to change peoples beliefs and help 1 million + families change their lives and make an extra $500 or more!

      Thank you Angela! The best gift we can all receive is changing the lives of others for the better! Thanks for sticking with it from the beginning!

  6. It doesn’t matter what field or industry you are working in. I was overcome with surprise (and peace to be honest) when I saw how this fear of success by those close to us even applied to a booming healthcare company. The quest for something better for yourself is the common denominator that invoked a certain fear in others around you, not the industry. It’s important to note that the struggle for your next level of greatness will always be met with resistance from life in general.

    That’s what helps us grow personally so that when we reach our goals, the true reward is who we have become through the process of adversity. Nothing great has ever come to anyone without struggle – unless you win the lottery and we have all heard the stories about ruined lives in those instances which illustrates the point even more vividly.

    Great post!

    1. FL Nicole,

      Thanks so much for your insight and heartfelt words. Perhaps one reason folks don’t want us to change is that, in order to stay up with us, they’d have to change, too. And they don’t want to…it’s work! I’m sure you know of the story of a bucket of crabs. You never have to put a lid on it because the crabs will keep pulling each other back into the bucket. Same concept, different critters! I love your admonition to love on those who try to stop us…but keep on moving, don’t let them stop us. Great advice.

      Your CD has traveled from my home to my car to my home again. Wherever I can listen to it. That, too, is a labor of love from you both and I thank you. Thanks also to Dr. Nico for your tireless work and huge heart on our behalf! I love reading your comments. It’s so extraordinary for you to be in the middle of this with us.

      God bless you both!

        Thank you so much for your kind words Terry! We love hearing feedback and don’t always get the chance to meet and talk to everyone which is what we love most! Dr. Nico and I really want everyone to succeed and we will do everything we can to provide the best platform for people to be able to do that.

  8. FEAR = False Expectations Appearing Real. Thank you for touching on one of the most common issues we all face and have to overcome daily (whether we admit it or not!). Together we can overcome fear!

  9. Excellent points, Nicole!

    Each time one of us humans realize that unconditional love and joy for others is the way to go, the world gets better.

    Each time one of us humans realize that helping others who are willing to be helped is joyful and loving, the worlds gets better again.

  10. GREAT message Nicole. I truly believe that those who want to hold us back are afraid that if we succeed then they will no longer have a reason to stay trapped like they are. So many people get trapped into the 40/40 plan where they work 40 hours a week for 40 years to be able to retire on half of what they can’t afford to live on now. Let them have their fear and when we are at the top we can still extend a hand to them to pull them up out of the quagmire they have created for themselves. Just Focus and Do It (JFDI!!)

      Thank you Ted! It’s so true, and when those people see your life changing and your new freedom they will eventually reach out a hand for help to do what you are doing!

  11. I was at a Beth Moore teaching event this weekend and one quote I took from that is “stressed vines make better wines.” You and Dr Nico are who you are today because of the resistance you have had. It has made you (and us) stronger and moved you forward. You are absolutely right, Nicole! We need to see resistance for what it is, fear, and love them and then move around them to go forward.

      Thank you Mary! Just keep pushing through but really just keep living your life. The change this will spark in you will be contagious eventually 🙂

  12. Let’s all Love, Hope and Dream together! I love that. Thank you for your words. We can all relate. Let’s all remember, the more confident we are in who we are and what we are sharing, the more people want to listen. Let’s share from the heart and we will attract the right people.

      Thanks Vonda! Thats right, just show people our hearts and they will come around. Because the reality is that people are wounded and don’t trust that people actually want to help them instead of use them to help themselves. Let’s all change those thoughts just by adopting this incredible culture Dr. Nico has established. #givetogrow

  13. Nicole, thank you so much for your words! There was a time, and occasionally still is, when fear gripped me at every decision point. With the help of those I love most and the good Lord himself I am evolving out of that mindset. As the old recording in my brain is erased a new recording is being made. The new one reminds me of my pain and fear enough to allow me to view their negative words through that filter. When I look closely at what I can see of there life in general, I often find that fear surrounds almost every aspect of their life. No one is beyond hope. No one is beyond change. The relationship that is founded in love is the relationship that will help them erase the old recording of fear and establish a new recording. Thank you for reminding us that we can move on and still develop a loving relationship with those who discard us.

      Thank you for your honesty and transparency. I’m sure a lot of people can relate to your story and understand the effort and work it takes to “re-wire” our brains. Once people can trust that things really are good, that people really are looking out for them and wanting to help them and not take advantage of them, they will come around. Unfortunately there is so much bad in the world that it blocks us from accepting and believing the good. We are hoping to help “re-wire” everyone’s thoughts of network marketing into something positive, good and achievable!

  14. I absolutely love this blog Nicole ❤️ No truer words, love your honesty & transparency that you & Dr. Nico share with us all. Thank you

  15. Great blog and so very true Nicole. “What we ignore becomes more, what we tolerate will soon take over, what WE challenge will change”

    Anyone and everyone that TRUly wants change in their lives, has to challenge their fears, step out of their comfort zone and surround themselves with caring, loving, like minded people. Then, be willing to put forth the consistent effort and disciplines necessary to realize their full potential and goals!!

  16. I “so” needed to read this, this morning. I was just a victim of this very thing, with a pretty devastating result. The hatred in our country has gone to such an extreme that I fear it may become the norm. Thankfully, we have Trunited and all of the goodness that comes from support, kindness, and positive energy from you and Dr. Nico. Today is the first day of my new life, and I cannot wait to immerse myself in all that’s good and right about Trunited and our second familia.

    Thank you both, and be blessed!

  17. Hi Nicole:

    Excellent topic – thank you for sharing!

    In addition to my profession as a Business & Financial Consultant – and having been in the Home Business Industry [part time] for over 30 years, associated with different companies – and also, having had the priveledge of serving on its professional association for 4 years, representing Canada (ANMP.com) – I feel I have seen the good – the not so good – and some of the frustrations – in trying to build a “successful” business.

    One of the things that has always encouraged (inspired) me – and kept me going – is a “prayer” from Mother Teresa.

    I keep this pinned on my office wall – and look at it daily. I hope it can do the same for others – – –

    LEADERSHIP => the 10 Commandments Of:

    1– People are illogical, unreasonable and self-centered

    >>> Love them anyway

    ————————-

    2– If you do good – people will accuse you of selfish, ulterior motives

    >>> Do good anyway

    ————————

    3– If you are successful – you win false friends and true enemies

    >>> Succeed anyway

    ————————

    4– The good you do today will be forgotton tomorrow

    >>> Do good anyway

    ————————

    5– Honesty and frankness make you vulnerable

    >>> Be honest and frank anyway

    ————————

    6– The biggest people, with the biggest ideas – can be shot down
    by the littlest people with the littlest ideas

    >>> Think big anyway

    ————————

    7– People ‘favor’ underdogs – but ‘follow’ only top dogs

    >>> Fight for underdog anyway

    ———————–

    8– What you spend ‘years’ building – may be destroyed overnight

    >>> Build anyway

    ———————-

    9– People really need help – but may attack you if you ‘do’ help them

    >>> Help them anyway

    ———————

    10– Give the world the best you’ve got – and you’ll get kicked in the teeth

    >>> Give the best you’ve got anyway

    ———————

    Sincerely / Peter A.
